Frequently Asked Questions
Where does JC Enterprises work?
We’re based in St. Croix, USVI and support projects across the Caribbean (USVI, Puerto Rico and regionally) as well as select Gulf Coast engagements.
What industries do you serve?
Refineries & terminals, power & utilities, marine terminals, and distilleries. We also support Caribbean government infrastructure and resilience projects.
What services do you provide?
Project management support, turnaround/outage planning, contractor & vendor oversight, reliability engineering (FMEA, RCFA, RCM), fixed-equipment advisory (API 510/570/653, API 579) and heat-exchanger troubleshooting.
Are you a PE of record?
No. JC Enterprises acts as an independent advisor/consultant. We bridge clients, inspectors and contractors, and can connect you with the right licensed professionals when required.
Can you help us plan a shutdown/turnaround?
Yes—scope alignment, schedule coordination, contractor/inspection integration, field presence for oversight, restart strategy and lessons-learned capture.
Do you “manage” contractors?
We provide oversight and coordination support; contractors retain execution authority. This improves safety, quality and transparency without replacing your teams.
Do you facilitate FMEA/RCFA?
Yes—structured workshops, root-cause investigations, CAPA development and integration into RCM and maintenance programs.
Can you review API 579 Fitness-for-Service results?
We provide advisory support for Level 1–3 FFS evaluations, help interpret reports, advise repair vs. rerate decisions, and align outcomes with reliability programs.
Do you support API 510/570/653 programs?
Yes—program planning, inspection coordination with Authorized Inspectors, QA/QC reporting, and PCC-2 repair coordination oversight.
Do you optimize heat exchangers?
We advise on fouling mitigation, vibration/fretting issues, thermal balance, retubing/bundle plans and operating adjustments to extend run length.
What’s your approach for lean utility teams?
“Fit-for-purpose” support—maintenance programs, outage planning, boiler/steam and rotating equipment advisories, plus rapid outage response.
Can you help with hurricane recovery?
Yes—advisory support for contractor mobilization, resource alignment, safety/compliance checks, and restart planning to restore critical services quickly.
How do you help distilleries keep batches consistent?
Practical reliability tools (FMEA/RCFA/RCM), boiler/steam distribution reviews, mechanical troubleshooting for stills and bottling, and on-time shutdown planning.
How do engagements start?
Discovery call → scoped proposal with deliverables/timeline → kickoff with stakeholders and contractors/inspectors as needed.
How do you price?
Fixed-fee or T&M depending on scope and uncertainty. We always aim for measurable business outcomes (downtime avoided, schedule adherence, risk reduction).
Can you work under NDAs and with regulated environments?
Yes—confidentiality, safety and compliance are standard in our work.
Do you bring a team?
We lead the advisory/oversight and, through our Caribbean network, connect you with vetted inspectors, EPCs and specialty contractors.
